TRANSCRIPT

Hey, revenue writers. Welcome to the Revenue Writers Podcast. I'm your host, Chris Stanley. This podcast is for anyone who wants to learn how to make money writing online, particularly writing books, writing on social media, writing on substack, that kind of thing. If you're interested in that and how it can help you, leverage your knowledge, leverage your expertise to build a business.

Then that's what we're gonna be talking about here. I am a big fan of publishing books, in particular shorter books I call mini books. And so my company, mini book publishing promotes that format. And so we'll be talking a lot about mini books, but the same things that work for mini books apply in work for big legacy nonfiction books.

So if you hear a tip here and you're like, Hey, I really like that, but I'm writing a big book. Yeah, it'll work. Okay, it'll work. But I'm really big on mini books and you'll find out why as the episodes go on. But because I'm a big fan of mini books, these episodes will be mini episodes. Chris, what does that mean?

A mini episode? It means I don't have a lot of time in my life for podcasts. I love listening to podcasts, but I don't have an hour to listen to an author talk about how he launched his book and all about his book. I just don't have time for that in my life. I'm a father of three kids. We homeschool our kids on our sailboat or school bus, whichever one we're on at the time.

Traveling. I run two companies and I'm writing books, and so I don't have a lot of time to consume content, but I want to get quick hitting advice on how to publish, how to write, how to build a business, and not a lot of that is out there. And I'm not on TikTok. I don't, I'm not on Instagram shorts or anything, but I like podcasts and so I was like, why doesn't there.

A podcast that talks about these things in a quick hitting way, and I'm like, I should do it and call it mini episodes. So we talk a lot about mini books, a lot about how to make money with writing here, and it's all gonna be in that shorter format. If I do an interview, it will also be chunked up into.

Five minute or less clips the best parts of the episode and then share it as individual episodes so you can get something tangible and get out and get on with your life. 'cause I'm really big into not just self-publishing, but into what I call practical publishing. Practical publishing is actually doing it in a way that's sustainable instead of doing everything the way that everyone else does it In traditional publishing

but by yourself as a self publisher, it's doing it in a practical way. So I don't wanna take up a lot of your time with these episodes. I wanna give you something so you can get out. Now, you might be like, Chris, why would I come hang out with you for even five minutes? I have no idea who you are. I'm nobody important, right?

I'm just a guy. I'm a guy who started a business online, wrote some books, and it helped my business be really successful. And so I got really excited about writing online. And so I've built a company up to $750,000 online the last few years in this weird niche of insurance adjusting. So if you're sitting here wondering I don't know if this writing thing's gonna work for me, I don't talk about writing or marketing or LinkedIn or anything that makes all that money.

No. This works in even the weirdest niches, and I've written 30 books now. 19 of them were Amazon number one bestsellers, and it's in a few different nonfiction genres. I've written obviously in the insurance adjusting space, nine books there. I've written six books in the publishing space, in the mini book publishing series.

I've written nine different Christian devotionals. And so my experience of publishing and writing and building business is across lots of different types of writing. So I think if it helps me, it's probably gonna help you. And so I'm gonna share my tips here. Try 'em out. See if they work. I hope you come back.

On the next episode, we're gonna dive deeper into what being a revenue writer really is and thanks for showing up. And I hope you enjoyed this first mini episode.
